Miten Linnunkoto™-uurna toimii?

  • DO YOU SCATTER THE ASHES OR ARE THEY MEANT TO BE BURIED?
    Both are possible. The ashes can be scattered around a tree or for example in water or you can bury the ashes in the biodgradable fabric urn, which is inside the woodenn urn.
  • HOW DO YOU CONDUCT A MEMORIAL WITH THE LINNUNKOTO URN?
    The cremated ashes are inside the fabric urn, which fits snugly inside the wooden birdhouse urn. You can carry the birdhouse urn by holding it from the bottom or from the sides. The roof of the birdhouse is detachable, so that you can remove the roof and gently lift out the fabric urn. The cremated ashes are scattered or buried. There is a wooden separator that is placed halfway down the birdhouse urn before attaching the urn to a tree.
  • WHERE ARE LINNUNKOTO URNS MADE?
    The birdhouse urns are made to order in North Karelia, Finland by local carpenter and urn maker Karjalan Kelo.
  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A LINNUNKOTO URN?
    The carpenter needs 30 days to build the birdhouse urn, in order to make the various hand crafted pieces and to allow the paint layers to fully dry,
  • HOW IS THE LINNUNKOTO URN DELIVERED?
    Delivery in Finland is via Matkahuolto fragile package service. This delivery option is included in the price. Please contact us at info@osanotto.fi for other delivery options including picking up in person and shipping abroad.
  • IS LINNUNKOTO BOTH A BIRDHOUSE AND AN URN?
    Yes it is. The birdhouse is a fully functional nesting place for birds crafted to measurement by an experienced urn maker.
  • WHAT ARE THE LINNUNKOTO URN BUILDING MATERIALS?
    The birdhouse urns are made of pine wood from Finland. Inside the wooden urn there is a fabric urn, either in linen or cotton linen.
  • WHICH BIRDS CAN NEST IN THE BIRDHOUSE URN?
    The birdhouse urn is made to order for the bird species of your choice. The size of the entry hole is 28, 30 and 32mm.
  • WHAT SIZE IS THE LINNUNKOTO URN?
    The birdhouse urn is larger than a typical urn. The appearance is respectful of the deceised loved one. The outside measurements of the postal package are 608 x 348 x 221mm and the weight approximately 4-5kg.
  • WHAT IS THE LINNUNKOTO URN PAINTED WITH?
    The birdhouse urn is painted in the shade of flax oil paint you select. There are 5 Finnish traditional color options as well as a signature shade created for the Evergrove Koli cemetery, which is called Karelian Rose. Handmade in Finland, Uula Color are environmentally friendly breathable, plastic-free paints.
  • WHY IS THERE A SEPARATOR INSIDE THE LINNUNKOTO URN?
    The wooden separater that lifts out of the birdhouse urn is for the bird to feel comfortable and snug nesting inside.
  • CAN YOU ATTACH LINNUNKOTO TO A TREE IN A FOREST?
    You can attach the birdhouse urn to a tree in your own yard or forest and to a tree at the Evergrove natural cemeteries. In Finland you should not attach the urn into a public forest or into a forest owned by someone else.
  • DO I TAKE THE LINNUNKOTO URN TO THE CREMATORIUM?
    The crematorium fills the fabric urn inside the wooden birdhouse urn, so you do not need to take the wooden urn to the crematorium, unless you so wish. You can deliver the fabric urn to the crematorium yourself or make arrangements with your funeral home or with Evergrove natural cemeteries.
  • HOW DO YOU ATTACH LINNUNKOTO TO A TREE?
    The birdhouse urn has an attachment rope at the back, which can be tied around a tree.
  • CAN I RECYCLE THE LINNUNKOTO URN?
    The flax oil paint cover is the same that is used for outside painting of buildings, so it lasts time well. The wooden and fabric urns are made of all natural materials and are fully recyclable.
  • HOW DO I CLEAN THE LINNUNKOTO URN?
    The top roof of the birdhouse urn is lifted and the inside separater removed after which you can clean the inside. At the Evergrove natural cemeteries the spring cleaning of birdhouse urns is done by the cemetery.
